MSP Retail Openings & Closings (Q1 2014)

The greater Minneapolis / St. Paul metropolitan retail market enjoyed a strong first quarter. Overall, the local economy is showing continued signs of strength with the unemployment rate remaining low at 4.7 percent as of January compared to the U.S. rate of 6.6 percent. It also is enjoying job growth and an active housing market.

At the retail level, velocity was high as several deals rolled over from 2013. Overall, the market is improving and there is more activity among both the corporate and franchise tenants.
